Just northwest of The Woodlands lies some of the most beautiful, gently rolling wooded acreage in this part of Texas. The
town of Montgomery has enjoyed explosive growth in the last ten years as residents of Houston and The Woodlands seek neighborhoods where they can have some land and horses and a little room to breathe.
It is widely reported that Montgomery County has a higher per capita rate of horses to humans than even the more famous bluegrass country of Kentucky. Numerous horse farms and training and boarding facilities dot the countryside and quite a few of the planned developments have equestrian trails throughout and some even have equestrian centers.
But whether you want to keep horses or not, larger lots… homes on half acre to up to 5 or more acres, are common in this part of Montgomery County.
Montgomery is one of the oldest towns in Texas. It got its start in 1826 as a trading post and was the very first county seat of Montgomery County. The Historic Downtown District is a preserved 19th century area that now houses some excellent shopping and dining establishments.
Montgomery boasts a local winery and tasting center and The Sam Houston National Forest is nearby with hiking trails and many opportunities to view local wildlife.
The school district is growing quickly and has distinguished itself as a recognized district by the Texas Education Agency. The district has one high school, three intermediate and three elementary schools with a total of over 5,000 students and is growing at a rate of about 7% a year.
